Shabana FC picked their second win of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League while Tusker bounced back to winning ways on Saturday.

At SportPesa Arena in Muranga, Tore needed a 61st minute goal courtesy of Mathew Tegisi to stun hosts Murang’a Seal 1-0. The win enabled the Kisii-based Glamour Boys to move to 11th on the 18-team league table with nine points from eight matches.

Shabana have won two matches, drawn three and lost three. Meanwhile, Muranga Seal dropped to 13th with nine points from nine matches. They have won two matches, drawn three and lost four.

Elsewhere, Ryan Ogam’s sixth goal of the season handed Tusker a precious 1-0 win away to Nairobi City Stars in Machakos. The victory took the Brewers to 12 points after eight matches and in sixth place, three points shy of the top two.

It was a difficult game against a tough City Stars side, but the boys did enough to grab maximum points. Ogam scored in the 62nd minute with a nifty touch off the keeper after feeding off a brilliant Shaphan Siwa flick, the midfielder’s sixth assist of the season.

With keeper Joseph Ochuka coming back to the post, he was hugely untested in most parts of the first half, save for a few crossballs. Tusker on the other hand had some good chances, with Charles Momanyi twice being denied off the line, first off a header from a George Kaddu long throw, while the second was off a half volley inside the box.

Fabian Adikiny also had an 11th minute effort cleared off the line when he took a low shot from inside the area. In the second half, Tusker kept the pressure and it bore fruit in the 62nd minute. Though City Stars made an effort to try get back into the game, the backline marshalled by skipper Momanyi ensured a clean sheet.

At the death, substitute Joseph Mwangi almost doubled the tally but he couldn’t catch his shot well when picked out by an Ogam cross from the left. In another match, Kakamega Homeboyz battled to a 0-0 draw against Bandari at Mumias Complex while Mathare United scored a goal in each half to stun Posta Rangers 2-0.

For the ‘Slum Boys’ they grabbed the opener in 21st minute through Derrick Anami before Paul Kinyajui scored in the stoppages to ensure a return to winning ways for the Joseph Kamau-led side.

The win took Mathare to fourth on the table with 14 points from nine matches while Posta remained rooted at the bottom with five points from seven matches.
