Kenya Police FC, Tusker, Gor Mahia and Shabana will be in action as the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League enters the homestretch with nine matches scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday across the country.
The aforementioned teams are chasing for the league title, with Police currently leading the table with 58 points, Tusker sit second with 55 points, defending champions Gor Mahia are third with 53 points, while Shabana are following closely behind in fourth with 49 points.
With a chance to cement their spot, the law enforcers will travel to Mumias to face Kakamega Homeboyz. Tusker play away against FC Talanta, Shabana will be at home against struggling Bidco United, and Gor Mahia will host Nairobi City Stars.
The fixture involving Homeboyz and Police has seen the latter have better head-to-head stats, winning three of their last seven meetings in the league. However, in the first round meeting of the current campaign, the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw.
Last season, Police harvested six points from the fixture, winning the first round 3-0, before registering a 2-1 win away. In the previous campaign, it was Homeboyz who won the first round meeting 1-0, but the law enforcers recovered to win the reverse fixture 1-0.
Tusker will face Talanta on the back of a 2-0 win against Murang’a Seal, which enabled them to leapfrog Gor Mahia into second position. The Brewers are the favourites to bag maximum points as they have not lost to Talanta in their last six outings.
The first round fixture saw Tusker hammer Talanta 3-1, while last season, Tusker hauled four points on their way to finish second behind Gor Mahia, drawing 0-0 in the first round fixture before beating them 3-1. They drew 2-2 and 1-1 in the previous season.
