The Tricky Trees made the announcement on their official website on Sunday, bringing an end to the 27-year-old’s challenging tenure at the City Ground. On their official website, Nottingham Forest released a statement confirming the departure news of the Nigerian:
“Nottingham Forest can confirm that Emmanuel Dennis has left the Club following the mutual termination of his contract. We wish Emmanuel well for the future.”
Dennis, who joined Forest from Watford in 2022, was a significant signing following the club’s return to the Premier League. However, he struggled to find consistent form and a regular place in the squad. In his first campaign, he made nineteen Premier League appearances, contributing with two goals and three assists but was subsequently deemed surplus to requirements.
The Nigerian spent the majority of the past season away from the club on a series of loan spells. He joined Turkish Super Lig club İstanbul Başakşehir for the 2023-24 season before seeing his loan terminated to return to England to spend the second half of that season with Sky Bet Championship side Watford where he scored four goals in seventeen league appearances.
Last season, Dennis spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan with another second tier side, Blackburn Rovers. He managed just one assist in six appearances at Ewood Park.
