TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has issued a direct challenge to former Kaizer Chiefs youth captain Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi, urging the midfielder to “show up” as he struggles for first-team minutes.
While the “Rockets” have become a famous springboard for young talent—transforming DStv Diski Challenge stars like Samukele Kabini and Puso Dithejane into senior internationals and lucrative exports in record time—Nkosi’s transition has been uncharacteristically slow.
Despite the pedigree of captaining Amakhosi’s reserves to a league title, the 21-year-old has been restricted to just 11 minutes of action this season, leaving his “Chiefs connection” yet to yield the expected results in Mpumalanga.
Beganovic isn’t worried, though. He views Nkosi as a “slow-burn” talent.
Speaking at the Nedbank Cup press conference in Sandton on Thursday, Beganovic explained that while every young player requires a preparation period, the speed of integration varies.
“It is not always on us; some players need more time, others adapt to our periodisation and training methods in just a few sessions,” Beganovic noted.
While the Galaxy boss praised Nkosi’s “great ability” and “beautiful passing range,” he made it clear that the responsibility now lies with the player.
“He’s improved since he arrived, and in the future, we will count on him more… but in the end, he needs to take his opportunities and show that he is a player who can stay in the team. He has the desire, and he’s a real fighter, but it’s up to him to show up before the end of the season.”
