Former Orlando Pirates striker and Malawi international Gabadinho Mhango is poised to exit Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants at the end of the 2024/25 PSL season.

Mhango’s imminent departure comes after just one season with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, a move facilitated by their acquisition of Swallows' top-flight status.

Despite his positive start to life at Gallants under the leadership of coach Dan Malesela, the 32-year-old Malawi Flames attacker has seen his game time dwindle recently, featuring only once as a substitute in the club’s last five league fixtures under new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

The recent lack of playing time for Malawian international Mhango at Gallants has fueled speculation about his future. Adding fuel to the fire, a bitter legal battle has erupted between the striker and the club over image rights.

Mhango is reportedly demanding over R800,000 plus interest for the unauthorised use of his image to promote team fixtures. It is said that the club has responded with threats of expulsion, further clouding the future of the player at Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.

In an interview with FARPost, Mhaango's representative, Mike Makaab, has confirmed that the player will head out the exit door at Gallants in June when his contract expires.

“I can tell you that Gabadinho Mhango will leave Marumo Gallants at the end of the season and join a new club,” said Makaab. “When you look at Mhango and how he has performed at his club, he has given it his all, but he will definitely leave at the end of the season.”
