Ghana goalkeeper Seidu Mutawakilu has said that, he is open to signing for any Ghanaian club if a better contract is made available to him.
Mutawakilu is one of the few players to have featured for Ghana’s two most glamorous clubs, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak – playing for the former at the youth level and the latter at the senior side.
He has previously played for Dreams fc before transferring to Nigeria where he spent a combined nine seasons at Rangers International and Rivers United before signing for Akwa United.
He opened up on is time while playing in the Ghana Premier League: “There have been a lot of positives in playing for the league for some time but now based on the salary and the way the agents are, within one or two years you will see a player leaving the shores of Ghana,” Mutawakilu told Radio Gold.
“But during our time there were a lot of experienced players who played in the league for five or six years so they have a lot of experience. But as for now it is hard for you to see a player remain in the league for five to six years so that situation is not in the league like it used to be, based on maturity and experience.”
The 30-year-old was asked whether he would sign for any Ghanaian club if the opportunity presents itself and he answered in the affirmative. The former Ghana U-20 goalkeeper who is a now a free agent after leaving the now relegated Akwa United.
“Yes football is our work and apart from football we don’t have any work doing so if you give me a good offer, peace of mind, I will find a place for you.”
