Four Congolese players have signed for newly promoted Lebanese Premier League outfit, Jwaya Sporting Club, after switching from AS Maniema.
The Linafoot league giants confirmed the transfers of striker Rodrigue Kitwa, defender Ordy Simete, midfielder Jonathan Kanu and striker Rachidi Musinga to the Asian nation.
“AS Maniema Union informs its supporters and the general public that four of its players will now play under the colors of Jwaya sporting club of Lebanon for the 2025-2026 season,” the club’s statement reads.
“All these transfers were concluded with the agreement of the club’s management. These players, who have proudly worn our colours, some since 2021, are starting a new adventure in Lebanon. AS Maniema Union wishes them success in this important stage of their careers and thank them for their commitment and contribution to the club’s history.”
Kitwa has since sent an emotional farewell message to Maniema’s football family.
“Maniema Union was not just a team, but a challenge, a school, a family that gave me almost everything, I can never say enough.
God decided that our paths end here, and I leave with a proud heart to have worn the Maniema Union colours, and grateful to have been worn in the hearts of more than one in Kindu and everywhere Maniema has played,” he wrote on the club’s Facebook page.
Jwaya won the Second Division championship last season to earn promotion to the 12-member Premier League whose defending champions are Ansar FC.
