Stellenbosch FC confirm Fourie’s move to Orlando Pirates

Stellenbosch FC have officially confirmed the departure of Head of Recruitment and Analysis Brendon Fourie, who is set to join Betway Premiership rivals Orlando Pirates.

The announcement comes less than 24 hours after reports surfaced that the highly-rated technical official had bid farewell to the Winelands outfit over the weekend. Fourie, who has been a cornerstone of the Stellies success story since December 2022, is the latest high-profile staff member to trade the Western Cape for Mayfair.

A Mutual Parting of Ways

In an official statement released on Tuesday, Stellenbosch FC revealed that Fourie informed management of his desire to pursue a “new challenge” with the Buccaneers.

Stellenbosch CEO Rob Benadie expressed disappointment at the exit but maintained that the club’s technical foundation remains solid despite the loss of such a key figure.

“It is, of course, disappointing to lose a person of Brendon’s calibre, but we respect his decision and wish him all the best,” Benadie said. “He played a valuable role in helping shape the success of Stellenbosch FC in recent years and departs with the gratitude of all associated with the club.”

Pirates’ Winelands Raid Continues

Fourie’s move reinforces an undeniable trend of Orlando Pirates looking toward Stellenbosch to bolster their off-field high-performance structures.

The recruitment specialist follows in the footsteps of former Stellies analyst Devon O’Brien and head of performance Ruan Rust, both of whom joined the Soweto giants in 2024. This technical “pipeline” mirrors the movement on the pitch, with players like Andre de Jong also recently making the switch to the Buccaneers.

Despite the exit, Benadie was quick to reassure supporters that the club is well-equipped to handle the transition as they push for a strong finish to the 2025/26 campaign.

“Supporters can rest assured that the strength of this club has never relied on any single individual,” Benadie added. “We have built a robust sporting infrastructure with many talented staff members who remain fully committed.”

Fourie is expected to begin his new role at Orlando Pirates immediately, contributing to a technical team that head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised for its data-driven approach and focus on youth development.
