Fowler advises Liverpool to sign Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo

A week after Bournemouth general manager Tim Bezbatchenko openly said the Premier League club will not stand in the way of Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo if gets an offer to leave the club, Liverpool have been told to sign the player.

“When a club like Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG come in and they compete for Champions League places, who are we to say: “No, you can’t go, you can’t fulfil your dream’,” Bezbatchenko said in a recent interview on the podcast Business of Sport.

His comments have opened talks from all with former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler calling on the Anfield side not to miss on the chance to bring Semenyo home.

Liverpool need a Fabinho type sitter in that park

“I do think we need a Fabinho type sitter in that park. As much as there are three fabulous players in there (Alexis) Mac Allister, (Ryan) Gravenberch and (Dominik) Szoboszlai, discipline would probably be the wrong phrase here ’cause I think they can do it,” Fowler told  Adventure Gamers as quoted by Complete Sports.

“But you need that disciplined player to sort of sit there and try and control things.

“At times I think Liverpool have maybe been a bit too risky with the three midfielders going forward when it’s probably not on. I think they do need that little bit of stability in front of that back four.”

It has emerged that Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are all keen to go for the services of the Black Stars ace, who has so far this season, scored six goals from 11 Premier League matches and provided three assists.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Semenyo said he was not thinking too much about the transfer speculations.

He said: “I don’t think about it too much. I try to stay present as much as I can. You see the news all the time, I see it as well, I’m not oblivious, but I try to keep focused.

“I’m enjoying my football here. If I’m not scoring goals, all of that goes away. I try to stay present, do the best I can for the team, score goals and whatever happens in the future happens.”

He added: “When they [his former team-mates] all left [in the summer], there was a lot of interest and back and forth with the club.

“But I knew in my head that the manager’s got something up his sleeve this year. How we finished off the season last year was so good and we could continue, especially with the players we’ve bought in as well.”

Semenyo has continued to impress other teams with his performances for Bournemouth this season. Only Erling Haaland (11) and Igor Thiago (eight) have scored more Premier League goals than Semenyo (six) this season.
