FC Midtjylland returned to winning form in Denmark’s Superliga on Sunday with Franculino scoring twice in a 6-0 beatdown of FC Nordsjaelland.
It was a great humbling for Nordsjaelland, who were down 0-3 after fifteen minutes as the hosts ran away with a lopsided victory. Senegalese defender Ousmane Diao put FCM ahead inside three minutes before Dario Osorio and Aral Simsir contributed goals to complete a dominant start.
Guinea-Bissau national team striker Franculino then took the lead to another level. In the 44th minute, Victor Bak and Simsir combined on the left wing before Simsir’s cross fell for the striker who was left with a simple finish from less than two yards out.
Right after halftime, the Superliga’s leading scorer added his second with a clinical finish after Simsir played the striker in behind the FCN defense. Valdemar Byskov made it 6-0 later on in the second half to finish the scoring.
Franculino now leads the Danish top flight with 16 goals in as many matches, double the tally of the next name on the list. FCN remain two points back of league leaders AGF Aarhus and will face FCN again on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Danish Cup.
