Frank Lampard hails Frank Onyeka’s impact after impressive Coventry City debut

Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard is pleased with Frank Onyeka’s impact on the field following his impressive debut for the club.

Onyeka starred for the Sky Blues in their 3-1 English Championship victory over Middlesbrough at the CBS Arena on Monday.

​With the win, Coventry City has returned to the summit of the Championship table.

​Speaking after the match, Lampard acknowledged Onyeka for his standout display.

“He was outstanding – the energy, the ball winning.

He did great. He was so visible on the eye, you know, his pressing, his break up and quality on the ball. He reads stuff and gets on the move so quickly. He can eat up ground and he can play as well.”

The former Chelsea boss added that the Nigerian international’s quality is rubbing off on the rest of the squad in a positive way.

“When you bring in a player of that level I think it gives everybody a lift. I expected that from him. He’s played in the Premier League and for his national team but it’s not easy coming into a game at that level in this league. It’s tough and it just looked like it was there.”

Coventry City will look to maintain their position at the top of the table as they travel to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
