The Leopards of DR Congo edged Mali by a 1-0 score on Thursday in the first international friendly match for each team in the June FIFA window.

FC Augsburg striker Samuel Essende scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute to give the Leopards an eventual victory at the Stade de la Source in Orléans, France. The match featured strong selections from both teams to make for a competitive match.

The Congolese team will finish up the June FIFA window on Sunday when they face Madagascar at the same venue. For Mali, Thursday's friendly was the only match the Eagles will play during the ongoing international break.
