Tunisia began their March FIFA window with a 1-0 victory over Haiti in an international friendly played at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.
Celtic FC forward Sebatian Tounekti scored his first goal for the Eagles of Carthage in the 7th minute. Ismaël Gharbi played an excellent pass to slice open the Haitian defense and Tounekti produced a clinical finish for the only goal of the match.
Both teams, set to participate at the upcoming 2026 World Cup, utilized selections that featured a mix of regulars and younger players getting a final chance to impress.
Tounekti’s goal was the only spark in an otherwise tense first half that saw the two opponents mostly cancel each other out. Haiti showed more initiative in the second half, which featured more action on a cold evening. However, the Tunisian defense maintained a clean sheet with a strong midfield led by captain Ellyes Skhiri.

The result will be a success for Eagles of Carthage coach Sabri Lamouchi, who left a couple of stars on the bench for the match including left back Ali Abdi and regular goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen.
Tunisia will remain in Toronto to face another World Cup participant. They will clash with co-hosts Canada on Tuesday.
