Newly appointed Ghana’s U-17 national team coach, Frimpong Manso has promised to correct the struggles and past failure of the juvenile national team at major tournament.
The Black Starlets coach pledged to thoroughly analyse Ghana’s past failures as he seeks to lead the team back to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after three unsuccessful qualification campaigns.
Manso, who formerly played for Asante Kotoko and the Ghana national team, currently coaches premier league leaders, Gold Stars.
Frimpong Manso said: "I’ve been in that same seat before. There are a lot of things that have been happening, and on three occasions we couldn’t qualify. We need to find out all those things that happened in the past to know why we have not been able to qualify,” Frimpong Manso remarked to ghanafa.org.
"With my experience earlier, there were some things I observed. I need to make sure I address them and do it well this time around."
The Black Starlets, two-time U-17 AFCON champions and the most successful team in the competition’s history, last competed at the continental level in 2017, finishing as runners-up.
However, recent setbacks, including being eliminated on home soil by Burkina Faso in the last edition, have raised concerns about the team’s trajectory.
