Gold Stars head coach Frimpong Manso was left in a jubilant mood after guiding the club to their first-ever Ghana Premier League title.
The Bibiani-based club secured their maiden title following a 4-0 battering of Accra Lions in the final fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season at the Duns Park on Sunday June 8.
The commanding win ensured the Gold Stars claimed the league summit with 63 points – three better than second-placed Nations FC, who are awaiting a final decision by the Ghana FA over their truncated week 33 fixture at Basake Holy Stars.
The former Tano Bofoakwa coach said: “You can see everybody is very happy. The whole town is happy, and so I am overwhelmed,” Frimpong Manso said in a post-match interview. “The joy of the town makes me so happy.”
Frimpong Manso left his post at the relegated Tano Bofoakwa to fill the void that was created by the late ex-Kotoko midfielder Michael Osei. Gold Stars will now represent Ghana at the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, with the FA Cup winner, either Kotoko and Golden Kicks, partaking in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
