The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced the provisional kickoff dates for key competitions in the upcoming 2025/26 domestic football season.

According to the federation, the Uganda Premier League will tentatively begin on September 26, 2025, while the FUFA Super Cup is slated for September 21, serving as the traditional curtain-raiser.

The Super 8 tournament, featuring the top eight teams from the previous UPL campaign, is scheduled to run from September 7 to 17.

In addition to the competition calendar, FUFA has released the Club Licensing Action Plan for the upcoming season, aimed at enhancing professionalism and compliance among clubs.

The licensing process officially kicked off on May 20 with a meeting of the Club Licensing Committee to discuss the updated framework. This was followed by the publication of the 2025 edition of the Men’s and Women’s Club Licensing Regulations on June 10.

A pre-season meeting involving UPL club Chairmen and CEOs is set for June 26, during which the Club Licensing Points Scoring System will be activated. The primary registration window opens on July 1, with physical inspections to follow between July 10 and 31. All required documentation must be submitted by July 31.

Licensing decisions will be made from August 4 to 6, while any appeals will be addressed by the designated appellate body on August 12. The final list of licensed clubs will be communicated to the league on August 15, and the full fixture list is expected to be released on August 26.

Last season, Vipers SC clinched the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League title with 69 points, narrowly edging out NEC FC, who finished second with 67 points. Meanwhile, BUL FC are the current holders of the FUFA Super 8, having defeated Vipers in the previous edition.
