One of the longest running transfer sagas of the summer is finally over after Nigerian superstar striker Victor Osimhen’s permanent transfer to Turkish champions Galatasaray was confirmed on Wednesday.
After leading his new club to the Super Lig title last season on loan from Italian club Napoli, it appeared that his stay at the Istanbul giants would be temporary. However, a determined effort from Galatasaray management to secure Osimhen’s stay on a permanent basis has borne fruit. The club are celebrating the impending official confirmation with an entertaining social media campaign to welcome the Nigerian’s return including on ongoing plane tracker as he travels to Istanbul.
Osimhen was integral to Galatasaray’s dominance of Turkish football as the club won the domestic double, capturing the Super Lig and Turkish Cup. He scored 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions while winning the hearts of Gala’s famously passionate supporters. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Galatasaray will pay Napoli β¬75 million with potential additional fees based on Osimhen’s performance.

Galatasaray are in the midst of their preseason, which they will finish up on Saturday with a friendly against Lazio. Their Super Lig campaign begins on August 8 away from home at Gaziantep.
