Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk delivered an update on Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen by saying he could feature during their UEFA Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday.
The former Napoli striker did not feature on Saturday as Galatasaray defeated Eyüpspor 2-0 in a Turkish Super Lig fixture at Atatürk Olympic Stadium. Osimhen arrived in Turkey having suffered an injury while representing the Super Eagles during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He picked the injury in the game against Rwanda which Nigeria won 1-0 and subsequently missed the matchday eight fixture against South Africa which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Speaking during his post-match press conference after the Eyüpspor victory, Buruk expressed optimism Osimhen could return in time to face the Bundesliga side.
“Osimhen’s condition will be determined within a few days,” he told the club’s official website. “We’re hopeful he’ll play. We think he will, but of course, he’s in pain. We’ll see if he can tolerate that pain and play with it. We have a few days.”
So far this season, Osimhen has featured three times, scoring three goals.
