Despite several top clubs vying for his services ahead of the new campaign, Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek has remained confident of keeping Victor Osimhen at the Turkish Süper Lig club.
The Super Eagles forward is drawing interest from several clubs in the current transfer window, with recent reports suggesting he rejected a €75 million move to Saudi club Al Hilal.
As well as the potential move to the Saudi Pro League, several Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United have also been discussed as a possible destination.
However, Galatasaray boss Özbek has explained why Osimhen is likely to stay at the club, citing the love he receives from fans, who are doing everything possible to convince him to sign a contract extension.
“Victor Osimhen is staying at Galatasaray; his affection will be the most important factor. Negotiations are ongoing,” Ozbek told Hurriyet. “We hope to give you good news next week.”
Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, where he helped them to win the domestic double of the Turkish Süper Lig and Turkish Cup.
He featured 30 times in the league, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists.
