With Premier League giants Arsenal still in the market for a striker, former defender William Gallas has explained why Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen will not be a good signing for the club.

The team led by Mikel Arteta are currently shopping for a striker, and Osimhen is among the players, including Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, who have been linked with a move to North London.

However, according to the 47-year-old, who played most of his career in France and England before finishing in Australia with A-League club Perth Glory, Arteta will not be able to manage Osimhen, hence why he thinks Arsenal should look at different options.

“Victor Osimhen is a top-class striker, but I could see him clashing with Mikel Arteta,” Gallas told Prime Casino. “Viktor Gyokeres would be a better fit, but Arsenal have to win the Premier League next season, which means they need to sign Alexander Isak.

“Isak is perfect for Arsenal and they should be going all out to sign him. He would adapt instantly and give them the best chance of winning the title out of any player in the world, they don’t have time to let a striker adapt.”

The Napoli striker is currently on holiday in Nigeria and has reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal. Reports have it that Premier League sides Chelsea and Liverpool, as well as Italy's Juventus, are said to be monitoring his situation.
