New Tanzania national team coach Miguel Gamondi has vowed to build a strong team to compete with the best across all competitions.
The Argentine tactician made the remarks as he embarked on a journey with the East African nation, after being named the coach replacing Hemed Suleiman. Gamondi revealed that his work is to work closely with the players to achieve his target.
“This is my third year in Tanzania, and I know the league well,” he said. “I also know many Tanzanian players, and that makes me proud to contribute to the national team. Thanks to TFF for trusting me. I believe we will achieve good results together,” said Gamondi as quoted by Daily News.
Gamondi is slated to lead Taifa Stars during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco. Under Suleiman, Tanzania qualified again for this year’s AFCON and reached the CHAN quarterfinals, where they were knocked out by Morocco.
“The country has many young players with passion and ambition. My aim is to work with them and build a team that represents Tanzania well,” added Gamondi, who currently is attached to Tanzanian Premier League club Singida Black Stars.
Recently, Gamondi helped Singida to qualify for their first-ever group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Gamondi’s first assignment for Tanzania will be the upcoming international friendly against Kuwait on November 14 at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.
