Durban City FC’s veteran coach Gavin Hunt has shared his thoughts on Stellenbosch FC’s struggles in the South Africa’s Betway Premiership.
Steve Barker’s men face City on Wednesday while smarting from a four-game losing streak in all competitions.
Such a run has prompted Barker to admit that the wheels have come off his South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) team.
The coach further noted that the 2024-2025 CAF Confederation semifinalists have lost their mojo. He, therefore, added that they need urgent redemption. They lie fourth from the basement with just one league win in seven games.

Barker made the admission after the Stellies lost 1-0 to Richards Bay in a Betway Premiership match on Saturday.
Having been sacked last season while at SuperSport United due to similar struggles, Hunt related to Stellenbosch’s bad patch.
The former PSL-title winning coach share his opinion on Stellies as he prepares to face them on Wednesday.
Hunt told his club’s media that any team can hit a rough patch as is the case with Barker’s team, hence such a scenario is common.
“They’re not having the best of runs. But that can also happen to anybody,” the ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach said.
Smarting from a 3-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns a few days ago, the former Bidvest Wits man has since urged his wards to bounce back to winning ways against the Western Cape-based opponents.
“You should just look at the next game, and we’ll try and plot from there. At a club like ours, we have to play the next game and try to get the most out of it.
“We’ll dust ourselves off and approach it as we have to go along. But I say we got to try and get something from our away games. At home we are good, we’ll give anybody a go,” he added.
