Genk manager, Thorsten Fink has shed light on the reason behind the decision to leave Nigerian forwardTolu Arokodare out of their crucial UEFA Europa Conference League tie on Thursday night with Lech Poznan.

Speaking to Belgian outlet HLN, Fink confirmed that the decision to bench the forward was made to prevent any risks while negotiations are underway for his transfer.

“Negotiations are underway. A club is interested. It was too risky for both parties to play him.”

English Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in talks with Genk for Arokodare.

Wolves are reportedly ready to meet Genk’s valuation, with a fee in the region of €20 million being discussed. While other European clubs, including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Fulham, were also linked with the powerful forward, Wolves have emerged as the clear front runners.

The 24-year-old was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League last season, netting an impressive 21 goals and contributing six assists in 40 appearances.
