Central Africa Republic captain Geoffrey Kondogbia has clarified his absence from the senior national team for their March friendlies.
According to the Olympique Marseille midfielder he never turned down invitation by head coach Éloge Enza Yamissi contrary to rumours being bandied across the media space.

The 33-year-old added that he was informed by the coach about ten days earlier, that he had not been selected for the training camp scheduled in Bangui during the March international break.
Part of his statement posted on his Instagram page read: “I was informed by the national team coach, Mr. Eloge Enza Yamissi, that I was not part of the list of selected players, on the decision of the President of the Central African Football Federation.”
Kondogbia, since switching nationality to play for Central Africa Republic in 2018 has made 21 appearances with three goals.
He previously represented France at the youth level until the U-21 between 2008 and 2015 before deciding to turn up officially for Central Africa Republic in 2018.
Kondogbia has a rich experience having played for Lens, Sevilla, Inter Milan, Valencia ane Atletico Madrid.
