Ghana to play Austria in pre-World Cup friendly

European side Austria have agreed to host Ghana in an international friendly in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The two countries who have qualified for the World Cup to be co-hosted Canada, USA and Mexico will clash at the Ernst Happel Stadium on March 27 at 7:00pm GMT.

The Black Stars are paired with England, Croatia, and Panama in Group I, while Austria faces World Champions Argentina, Algeria, and Jordan in Group J.

Ghana will battle Germany after Austria clash

The friendly against Austria is one of two matches lined up for the Black Stars in March ahead of the World Cup.

Ghana will take on Germany in their second friendly on Monday, March 30, 2026. The clash against Austria is scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2026, at 17:00GMT.

Ghana will open their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, in Toronto, followed by matches against England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia on June 27, 2026.
