Ghana: Lee Addy backs coach Otto Addo squad

Former Ghana international Lee Addy has backed head coach Otto Addo after he named a 26-man squad for the two international friendlies in March.

The German trained tactician included four debutants, Derrick Luckassen, Patric Pfeiffer, Marvin Senaya, and Daniel Agyei for the two matches against Austria and Germany.

Lee Addy who played for the Black Stars at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa believes coach Addo has selected the best materials for the task ahead.

Ghana will face Austria and Germany in two friendlies

“I believe the coach selects the players based on the tactics he wants to play. We always talk about who deserves to be there, but maybe such players don’t fit the coach’s game plan,” he told Ghanasportspage.

The former Berekum Chelsea, Red Star Belgrade and Dinamo Zagreb defender also urged supporters to remain positive ahead of the upcoming events.

“Sometimes, the team that people doubt turns to pull surprises, so let’s support them because they need it. But I believe anyone the coach names deserves to be there.

Ghana will take on Austria on March 27 before facing Germany three days later as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana is paired in Group L of the FIFA World Cup against England, Croatia and Panama for the competition set to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.
