The Kpando Stadium will witness the battle of Ghana Premier League title contenders when Heart of Lions host two time champions Aduana FC in a week 14 encounter on Friday at 3:30 GMT.
Lions, who gave away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 at Nations FC in the previous fixture, will welcome Aduana, a side that picked one home point after a goalless draw to Holy Stars.
Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford admits that, the defeat from Nations FC unsettled the players’ psyche a bit but they have recovered enough to make amends against Aduana.
“I think that defeat [against Nations FC] affected them a little, the morale was down so I had to talk to them and now it’s over. I’ve told them to put it behind them so that we forge ahead because we have more matches than those that we have played so we are preparing for the next match which is against Aduana,” Bashir Hayford told Heart of Lions TV.
“They [Aduana] are also ahead of us on the league log and the other time we couldn’t pick the maximum points at home so this is another chance to do that and we have doubled our training so that we can take the maximum three points.”
Heart of Lions defender Ruben Hennessy scored an own goal in their 2-1 loss against Nations FC in week 13 but he has expressed full readiness to right the wrong against Aduana FC.
“We lost the previous game and with this game we are prepared for it because of what happened in our last game so with this we are fully prepared for this game,” Ruben Hennessy told Heart of Lions TV.
Aduana are second on the league log with 24 points just one above Heart of Lions after 13 matches. Medeama SC lead the standings with 26 points.
The match day 14 fixture between Bibiani Gold Stars and Medeama has been postponed following Medeama’s release of five players to the senior team B for their international friendly against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on December 16.
