Experienced coach Stephen Frimpong Manso will face his first competitive assignment when he leads Nations FC to Bechem United in a week eight fixture of the Ghana Premier League on Friday.
Frimpong Manso led Gold Stars to last season’s Premier League title but was sacked after guiding the Miners to a 2-0 loss in the first leg preliminary round of the CAF Champions League against Algeria’s JS Kabylie.
He was in charge of Gold Stars when they defeated Bechem United 2-1 in the season’s opener at the Duns Park in Bibiani and he will face the Hunters for the second time in the first round of the Ghana Premier League.
The former Eleven Wonders coach admits that the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park will be a tough ground to collect all three points but remains confident of a good show.
“Bechem is one of the difficult centres and to be able to win at Bechem, you need to work above yourself and these are things I need to let them understand although most of them have been at that venue but what it takes to get the points is what we need to let them understand,” Frimpong Manso told Nations FC TV.
“They need to work, to fight, to make sure they defend well with the ball and it’s the most important thing we have to do well before we will be able to get the result in Bechem.
“I played my first match with Bechem [United] this season[ while head coach of Gold Stars] and we won 2-1 at Bibiani[ and] so I am playing them for the second time in the first round so I have an idea about their team.”
Nations FC forward, Emmanuel Annor believes the club has prepared enough to tackle the encounter against Bechem United.
“Going to Bechem United, preparations are going on well and it has been good so far. The players mentality is to get the needed victory over there,” Emmanuel Annor told Nations FC TV.
Nations FC under former coach Kassim Mingle Ocansey managed to collect eight points from seven matches and are locked up in 12th on the standings. Bechem United on the hand lie 14th with five points and they need to win at all costs to climb out of the drop zone.
