Ghana brush aside weak Trinidad and Tobago to claim bronze at Unity Cup

Ghana posted a dominant first half against Trinidad and Tobago on their way to a 4-0 victory in the third place game at the GTech Stadium on Saturday in the 2025 Unity Cup.
The Black Stars, who missed out on the final game after losing 2-1 to rivals Nigeria in the opening semi final, punished the Caribbean nation early in the game.
Captain Jordan Ayew made a solo run around Trinidad’s third half after receiving a ball from Abu Francis before smashing home the opener with a powerful left footed strike in the 5 minutes.
Christopher Baah Bonsu could have extended the lead in the 11th minute but TNT goalkeeper parried his strike for a corner kick.
The resultant corner kick saw Jordan Ayew’s take headed in by Nations FC defender, Razak Simpson for Ghana’s second goal which is his first for the national team.
Ghana continued their dominance with youngsters, Mohammed Fuseini threatening the opponent at the wings. Trinidad however came back into the game momentarily when midfielder, Duane Muckette rattled the upright from a resultant free kick on the 20th minute.
However, Union St. Gilloise forward Fuseini scored his debut Ghana goal when he sliced in Jordan Ayew’s pass on the 40th minute mark to put them game at 3-0 moving into the first half break.
Back for the second half, Gideon Mensah found an onrushing Cercle Brugge midfielder, Lawrence Agyekum who poked the ball in between the legs of Trinidad keeper, St Hillaire to make it 4-0 on the 57th minute.
Ghana claimed bronze after the final whistle, finishing the game with a 4-0 win. The final will be between Nigeria and Jamaica at the same venue later today (17:00 GMT).
