The slim away victory completed a 3-2 aggregate win for Ghana who will now play against Uganda who eliminated Zambia via 2-1 aggregate in the fourth and final round of the qualifiers.
The first leg of the game between Uganda and Zambia ended 1-1 with Uganda posting a 1-0 home win in the reverse fixture.
Charles Sampson said after game: “The mood is unbelievable, you could see a lot of emotions even to myself just because of the challenges we had in this particular camp is huge and to come out of that and to come and win here and qualify for the next round is what we wanted so we are so happy,” Charles Sampson said.
“Our goal is to qualify for the FIFA World Cup and South Africa posed the challenge for us so we are extremely happy that we could surpass them so now we have time to prepare for our next opponent.”
Ghana has appeared at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since 2010 but have not gone beyond the group stage of the global football showpiece.
