The maiden edition of the WAFU Zone A and B U-20 Boys' Cup, scheduled to be hosted by Ghana beginning on June 15, has been postponed.

The Ghana Football Association in a statement on its website confirmed the postponement of the youth competition until further notice.

Reasons for pushing forward the tournament have not been clearly stated in the announcement but the GFA assured participants and fans that they're working to ensure the best possible conditions for the event.

The statement read: “We regret to announce that the WAFU A&B U-20 Boys Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Prampram from June 15-30, 2025, has been postponed.

“A new date for the tournament will be announced in due course. We kindly request that participating teams, officials, and stakeholders remain patient and keep an eye on our official communication channels for updates on the revised schedule.

“The tournament's rescheduling aims to ensure the best possible conditions for a successful event, and we are committed to delivering an exciting competition for all participants.” The tournament was to assemble sixteen West African nations from both WAFU Zone A and B for the novelty competition unlike previous separate zone tournaments.

The fixtures were billed for the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram with the final scheduled at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.
