Two-time Ghana Premier League champions Aduana FC eliminated holders Asante Kotoko from the MTN FA Cup after their round of 16 victory on Sunday.
Kotoko, who qualified for the Round of 16 after kicking out rivals King Faisal took the game to Aduana at the Baba Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors were awarded a controversial penalty in the 5th minute when Aduana defender, Stephen Badu was adjudged to have handled a ball in his area.
Kotoko’s dream of taking the early lead was shattered when captain Samba O’Neil shot straight into the hands of Aduana keeper Prince Osei.
Both sides created decent chances but failed to translate those opportunities into goals, ending the first half at goalless.
Kotoko were the better side in the opening 30-minutes of the second half, coming close with Hubert Gyau and Kwame Opoku.
Aduana came out of their shells momentarily, threatening Kotoko in the 76th minute however goalkeeper Mohamed Camara kept Aduana at bay.
After a barren hostilities, the game headed straight into penalty shootout with Aduana recording a 4-2 win, qualifying for the quarter finals.
