Asante Kotoko cruised to the finals of the MTN FA Cup after edging fellow Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea in the semi finals at the Tarkwa TnA Park on Sunday.
The entire first half looked ordinary with both clubs failing to produce the needed spark of an important game that will qualify the winner for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors needed the win to placate their supporters since the Ghana Premier League title dream looks quite unlikely with stern opposition from Nations FC, Gold Stars and Heart of Lions.
Berekum Chelsea came to the party for serious business, holding their guns into the dying embers of the encounter but also failing to find the back of the net.
The record Ghana Premier League holders however heaved a sigh of relief later in the game when striker Albert Amoah stunned the Blues of Berekum. The one goal separated the two sides, qualifying Kotoko for the final to be played at the Legon Sports Stadium.
Kotoko will now face Golden Kicks in the final after the Division One side eliminated fellow lower tier club Attram De Visser in a 3-1 score line at the same venue on Saturday.
