Ghana FA Cup: Division Two side True Life eliminate giants Hearts of Oak

Lower tier club True Life Football Academy have eliminated giants Hearts of Oak from the 2025/26 MTN Ghana FA Cup, a result that has angered the club’s following across the nation.

The Phobians played out a goalless draw in the first half against the Division Two club at the Kpobiman Complex before going down in the 78th minute in the Round of 64 through the effort of Prince Opare.

Hearts of Oak paraded a new look squad without number one goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and other key players with second shot stopper, Solomon Agbasi pinned to the bench. Third choice Sherif Shuaib manned the post but failed to rescue the 2000 CAF Super Cup winners.

The Phobians are the record FA Cup holders with 12 trophies and their elimination is a big blow for head coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani, who is aiming to turn the fortunes of the club around in the current campaign.

It will be the second time the 2000 CAF Champions League winners have suffered elimination in the competition at Kpobiman with the first coming against Nania FC . The game ended goalless with Nania recording a 4-3 penalty shootouts win in the Round of 64 in 2023.

Pressure has begun mounting on head coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani whose performance in the Ghana Premier League is a far cry from his coaching qualities. Hearts of Oak have claimed 21 points, same as rivals Asante Kotoko from 12 league matches and will now turn attention to their week 13 fixture away to Karela United at the Tamale Sports Stadium on December 7.
