Asante Kotoko will look to recover from last weekend’s defeat at All Blacks in the Ghana Premier League as they host rivals, King Faisal in the FA Cup round 32.
The rivalry will be rekindled at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday with the holders aiming to progress to the next round of the competition.
Kotoko qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup by virtue of winning last season’s tournament at the expense of Division One League side, Golden Kick FC.
Assistant coach of Kotoko, Prince Owusu shared his thoughts ahead of the game.
“City rivals you know it doesn’t matter the form that the other one has [but] it is who wants it the most so we have to urge them on [and] tell them that this is the game that they have to win,” Prince Owusu told Kotoko TV.
“And then we push them to do that, it’s not going to be easy but we know these boys will see us through. Last year we went to Africa through the FA Cup so we are not going to take it easy.”
There are other fixtures for the round of 32 that will be cleared on Wednesday. Holders Asante Kotoko will host Division One side King Faisal in a local derby.
Premier League side Heart of Lions are home to Division One club Na God FC, with Tamale City welcoming Karela United. Swedru All Blacks will complete the first batch of fixtures for Wednesday at home to Sefwi All Stars.
