Ghana FA secures big sponsorship deal for four national teams

Global telecommunication giants Mobile Telecommunication Network [MTN] has announced a landmark sponsorship deal for four of Ghana’s national football teams.

The contract will see MTN pump $2 million dollars to sponsor the senior team [Black Stars], the women’s team [Black Queens], the U-20 [Black Satellites] and the U-17 [Black Starlets] for a period of two years.

The announcement came from MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett, who expressed pride in partnering with the country’s most celebrated sporting brand during the partnership reveal ceremony on Thursday, August 14 in Accra.

Blewett explained that MTN’s decision stems from its long-standing commitment to sports development in Ghana and its belief in football’s power to unite the nation.

He said: “Football is a passion that connects the whole country, and MTN is proud to be part of the journey to take our teams to greater heights,” he noted, stressing that the partnership goes beyond funding to inspiring future generations of Ghanaian footballers.

The sponsorship deal comes at an opportune time to deliver crucial financial and logistical support to the teams as the Black Stars reconvene for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in September against Chad and Mali before wrapping up their campaign with matches against Comoros and the Central African Republic in October.
