Ghana hammer Malawi in pre-WAFCON exhibition

The Ghana women’s national team got their preparations off to a strong start for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Saturday.

The Black Queens, who are in Morocco to fine tune ahead of the tournament in the North African nation, beat Malawi by 3-1 at the Ziaida Complex.

The Scorchers took the lead in the 30th minute through Tendai Saani but Doris Boaduwaa bagged a hat-trick as Ghana came from behind. Ghana still have two international friendlies against the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Botswana to clear before the main tournament starts.

Ghana’s Group C opener will be against South Africa on July 7 at the Stade d’Honneur in Oujda.

They will then play Mali four days later before wrapping up with a clash against Tanzania on July 14 in Berkane. The 2024 WAFCON will run from 5-26 July 2025 in Morocco.
