Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign will be put to the test when the Black Stars battle Chad and Madagascar in a double encounter this month.
The Black Stars currently share the top of Group I with island nation Comoros on nine points after four games and wins against Chad and Madagascar will be crucial to their chances of booking a ticket to the next global football showpiece.
The four-time African champions had already caused a major disappointment following the failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after three drawn games in six matches.
The upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar is a time for redemption for the 2010 quarter finalists and former Ghana midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has urged the playing body to claim all six points at stake.
“Operation six points. Chad and Madagascar must go down,” Agyemang Badu told Sporty FM. "If we can’t beat them, then we have no business going to the World Cup,” he added.
Ghana’s performance in Group I saw them secure back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) collecting nine points, same as leaders Comoros. The Black Stars are aiming to qualify for their fifth FIFA World Cup which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The game against Chad is set for Friday, March 21 before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar at the Grand Stade d'Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24 for their Matchday 6 encounter.
