Head coach of Heart of Lions, Bashir Hayford says his players are gradually becoming complacent due to their fine performance in the domestic top flight.
The Kpando based club gave away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 at Nations FC in match day 13 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Prior to losing to Nations, Heart of Lions had gone eight matches without a loss and Bashir Hayford believes the red-hot performance is eating into the egos of the players.
“I think because of the way we are winning my players, they call themselves senior players, I think I should put them on their feet because now the complacency is too much, ” Bashir Hayford said.
“It was not about losing but they were too complacent and we lost the game, fine so we will go back and prepare.
“We have had the opportunity to jump to the top five times but any time we get that opportunity we mess up and so I think we have to go back to the drawing board and see what is happening.”
Heart of Lions remain on 23 points from 13 matches, sitting in 3rd on the league table. They will host two time champions and current leaders Aduana FC in week 14.
