Ghana Premier League: Hearts of Oak slapped with a fine after fans misconduct

Hearts of Oak have been handed a financial fine of GHS10,000 by the Ghana Football Association after finding the club guilty of misconduct in their Premier League clash against sworn rivals Asante Kotoko.

The fine comes after the record Ghana FA Cup holders had their fans engage in inappropriate conduct of hurling objects onto the field after their 1-0 loss to Kotoko in the week 9 premier league at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After conducting its investigations, the GFA Disciplinary Committee has found Hearts of Oak guilty of misconduct and fined the club an amount of GHS10,000. The fine, accompanied by a warning, is expected to be paid within 14 days.

The Ghana Football Association report read: “Accra Hearts of Oak SC have been handed a GHS 10,000 fine and a warning by the Disciplinary Committee for misconduct following their Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko SC.

“The club was found guilty of inappropriate behaviour by its supporters after the game, after objects were thrown onto the field of play. The fine is to be paid within fourteen (14) days of notification of the decision.”

In the same vein, Hearts of Oak midfielder Hussein Mohammed has been slapped with a three-match suspension by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after he was found guilty of misconduct.

Hussein was caught on camera making an attempt to physically assault referee Reginald Collins Amoah after the Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium in November.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee has found the Hearts of Oak midfielder guilty and banned him for three matches.

“Accra Hearts of Oak SC player, Mohammed Hussein, has been handed a three (3) game ban and warned by the Disciplinary Committee for misconduct following a Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko SC.

“The player was found guilty of unsporting behaviour towards the match officials of the said game. The suspension is effective immediately,” the Ghana FA announced in a notice on Monday, December 15.
