Hohoe United produced a fine finish against Asante Kotoko, beating the Porcupine Warriors 1-0 in week 13 of the Ghana Premier League.
The newly promoted side played both halves with energy, pressing the record Premier League holders into their half on most occasions.
A well swept first half free kick by William Oduro stunned Asante Kotoko with the visitors failing to reply at the Hohoe Stadium on Sunday.
Tijani Bashiru whose side struggled at the start of the campaign, gave rave reviews about his charges after the game.
“We have to congratulate the boys, they did so well. What I want to say is that hard work pays because we really prepared for this game. We watched their previous matches and I told my boys that we should go all out,” Tijani Bashiru said.
“This is one of the games that make us achieve our target because next week we are going away to one of the most difficult grounds as well so I think we did so well.
“The game plan worked so well for us because we really marked out their dangerous players and you can see that and they did so well.”
Hohoe United moved into 9th position on the league table with 17 points, same as Young Apostles after 13 league games into the season. They will travel to the Golden City Park as guests of Berekum Chelsea on December 14 on match day 14.
