Ghana Premier League: Karim Zito decries Kotoko’s wastefulness against Vision FC

Head coach of Asante Kotoko Karim Zito has expressed worry over the clubs wastefulness against Vision FC in their week seven outstanding fixture on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors fired blanks despite recording two consecutive victories prior to the delayed encounter at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Park.

Zito, who led the two time African champions to the FA Cup glory last season, believes that Kotoko were not clinical enough against Vision FC.

Karim Zito blasts strikers’ wastefulness in Vision’s area

“The team was very wasteful at the third end of the field. We created some chances we should have scored at all cost but we were not focused,” Karim Zito said in a post-match press conference.

“But at the end of the day I am okay with the one point because this is a league and you go to play an away game and you don’t win and you lose. I don’t think it’s good. So to me I’m content with the one point not because of anything but the way the game went I think I am content with the one point.

The experienced trainer has admitted that, the technical team needs to scout for a prolific striker as the departure of Albert Amoah to Al Ahly Benghazi is taking a toll on their attacking line.

“Of course we have to [look for another striker] we are having two now [and] it’s one under 20 guy and he was just sitting at the bench. He is also suffering and Kwame Poku is also suffering so we are left with only [Morifing] Donzo. So automatically when the open window opens at least you have to go in for one or two,” he said after the game.

“Because when you look at the league you are playing, the knockout and so forth a lot of matches and you can’t go with one striker.

“Even though I have opened the game to everybody, everybody can score, but yet at the end of the day, we mess up more than them. So, I think I have to go to the market.”

Asante Kotoko currently sit seventh on 15 points from seven matches with two outstanding games to honour this campaign.
