Head coach of Asante Kotoko Karim Zito says the club will be justified to relieve him of his post based on their unimpressive performance in the current campaign.
Kotoko were held to a goalless draw by Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium in week 18 of the Ghana Premier League, a result that has stirred divergent views among the fans.
The two Time African champions had suffered a 2-1 loss at All Blacks in the final game of the first half of the season and the result against Berekum Chelsea did not go down well with the fan base.
Zito who led the Porcupine Warriors to the FA Cup trophy last season admits that, the results are not going as expected.
“I can’t speak about tomorrow because, as you’ve mentioned, there are reports that management wants me out. These recent results have made the situation more difficult, so if that is truly their intention, then the opportunity has presented itself now,” he said.
The former Dreams fc trainer is however waiting on the club’s top brass for a final decision on his status.
“Throughout my coaching career, I have never been sacked, and I have neither seen nor heard anything from management suggesting they intend to appoint a new coach. Until the people who brought me here officially ask me to leave, I am not concerned about what is being said or reported on social media.”
Asante Kotoko share the fourth spot with rivals Hearts of Oak on 31 points from 18 matches and they will next travel to the Duns Park as guests of reigning champions GoldStars.
