Ghana Premier League: Asante Kotoko slapped with fine over fans misconduct

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have been slapped with a fine of GHS 20,000 by the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee.

The fine comes following incidents of misconduct during a Ghana Premier League match against Dreams fc at the Tuba astroturf.

According to the Committee’s ruling, “the club was found guilty of inappropriate behaviour of their supporters towards match officials in their league fixture against Dreams FC.

“The conduct of the fans was deemed unacceptable and in breach of the regulations governing the competition.”

Kotoko are in the race to secure another title

The Disciplinary Committee of the FA has given Kotoko a 14-day ultimatum to settle the fine after receiving official notification of the decision.

Kotoko could incur stiffer sanctions if they contravene the stipulated period of payment.

In addition to the financial penalty, the club has been issued a formal warning. The Committee cautioned that any recurrence of similar misconduct involving supporters may result in stiffer sanctions, including increased fines or other disciplinary measures.
