Ghana Premier League: Kotoko coach Karim Zito basks in Hearts of Oak win

Head coach of Asante Kotoko Karim Zito has said they needed to beat Hearts of Oak to boost their confidence in this campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors pipped their arch rivals by 1-0 in a week nine derby, making it two straight victories since returning from a poor CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The two time African champions had blown away Karela United 4-2 in week 8 at the Baba Yara Stadium to keep their unbeaten streak in five matches prior to meeting Hearts of Oak in Accra.

Striker, Morifing Donzo struck the winner from the penalty spot late in the first half following Amankwaa Baafi’s unintelligent tackle on Peter Amidu Acquah in the area.

Coach Karim Zito first described the intensity of the clash between the sworn rivals.

Karim Zito prides himself in the derby win

“Everybody knows Hearts and Kotoko how difficult it is and you could see the fans also came to watch the game but at the end of the day the mindset is there and at costs we had to beat them,” Karim Zito said.
