Medeama’s position on top of the Ghana Premier League table will face a stiff test when they travel to newly promoted side, Hohoe United in a week eight fixture on Saturday.
The Mauve and Yellow sit on top of the league log with 16 points from seven matches under the technical leadership of former Ghana striker and now coach, Ibrahim Tanko.
Ahead of the journey to Hohoe, coach Ibrahim Tanko has indicated his resolve to map up a strategy that will douse the threat of Hohoe United.
“They are a very good side with a very good coach and we even saw them in the first game against Hearts of Oak [and] we watched then and definitely we are also going to map up strategy that we think will overcome them,” Ibrahim Tanko told MEDi TV in a pre-match press conference.
“Of course we are going for a win, if not a win a point will be ok so definitely we are not just going there to participate.”
Medeama’s central-defender, Rich Sackey has shared the club’s target as they aim to get all three points to keep the lead at the top of the league table.
“We are going all out and moreover there is pressure on them because they have lost two matches in a row and so there is going to be a lot of pressure on them but we are going to do our task. It’s a task for us to come back home with a point or points,” Rich Sackey told MEDi TV.
Medeama have collected five victories this term with a draw and one loss heading into the next fixture, a game they seek to win to maintain their top spot.
Hohoe United on the other hand have struggled to collect points under the guidance of coach Tijani Bashiru, amassing eight points from a possible 21 and are seated in 10th. They have lost two matches in a row, a 2-0 defeat respectively at Samartex and at home to Aduana in weeks six and seven.
