Ghana midfielder, Iddrisu Baba has expressed readiness to storm the pitch and hit the ground running for club side, Almeria when next season kicks off.

The 29-year-old suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in November 2024 that sidelined him for the remainder of the 2024/25 league campaign.

He missed 31 games for Spanish side UD Almeria, where he is now training with the team during their pre-season preparations in Marbella.

The former Real Mallorca midfielder said: “I don’t care if it’s in an official match or a friendly,” Baba said. “But I don’t know how I’ll react when the gaffer tells me I’m playing. That moment will be special. I’m working hard for that surprise to come.”

He recalled the pain of the early recovery process and the mental challenges that followed.

“The first two months were horrible. I was in so much pain. Sometimes I still get flashes of the injury, but I forget them quicker now. I’m fine. I’ve left those bad memories behind, and I’m focused only on the day-to-day.”

As the 2025/26 season approaches, Baba remains cautious but hopeful about his return.

“The Segunda is a long road. You have to take it day by day. There are so many factors you can’t control,” he noted.
