Head coach of Ghana’s senior national male team Otto Addo has stressed the need to win the two upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games to increase the chance of a ticket to Mexico, Canada and USA.
The four-time African champions will take on Chad and Madagascar later this month in the two games of match day five and six campaigns.
The Black Stars posted a disappointing run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers without a single win, finishing bottom of group F behind Nigeria, Sudan and Angola with three points from three draws.
Addo, who paid courtesy call on Greater Accra chief, the GA Mantse on Wednesday, March 12, to seek support ahead of the Chad game, emphasizing the need for positive results to secure Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance.
"We came to seek for your support and guidance," the 49-year-old said.
"We have difficult matches ahead of us, and the country needs urgent victories to go the World Cup, and for that, I believe we need to support ourselves, especially the GA chiefs and the entire people so that everybody can be happy," he added.
Ghana share nine points atop the Group I alongside Comoros after securing consecutive wins against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in their previous qualifiers.
The Black Stars will next face Chad on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium before traveling to Morocco to play Madagascar at the Grand Stade d'Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24.
