Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions has announced a partnership with German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.
The deal, meant to focus on key areas of football development, is expected to begin in June 2025. The partnership between the two parties will help the German side scout and develop the pure talents spread across West Africa.
The 1959 German champions will also share their expertise in coaching training as well as administrative and organizational experience with the technical team personnel of the Ghana Premier League strugglers which will go a long way to foster a strong international relationship.
Accra Lions President Oliver König expressed joy at the significant collaboration between the two clubs.
“This partnership is a significant step for our club. We are proud to have Eintracht Frankfurt, a renowned Bundesliga club, on our side. Our players and coaches can benefit enormously from this collaboration – both athletically and personally. We see this as a fantastic opportunity for cultural exchange between two football-loving countries, which can extend far beyond football-specific topics.” Oliver König said.
Sporting Director of Frankfurt, Markus Krösche, said that the partnership will open new doors for both parties, stating that it will go a long way to help share organizational experience.
“We are delighted to enter into a partnership with Accra Lions FC, which will open up new opportunities for both clubs. This initiative will not only help us discover talent from Africa, but also contribute to sharing our sporting and organizational experience with a dynamic club like Accra Lions.” Markus Krösche said.
Accra Lions are noted for grooming and adding value to young players before marketing them to European clubs. One of such is forward Ezekiel Alladoh who has been in fine form for Swedish Allsvenskan side Brommapojkarna, where he has scored two goals in four games.
Accra Lions are currently struggling in the Ghana Premier League, seated 16th on 29 points from 28 league matches played. They are just one point away from safety with six games to end the season.
