Accra Lions brightened their chances of staying in the Ghana Premier League after a thrilling victory against two-time champions Aduana Stars in Accra on Saturday.
In an eight goal thriller, Accra Lions whitewashed Aduana Stars by 5-3 much to the shock of Premier League aficionados. Accra Lions hypnotized the visitors by scoring four opening goals inside the first half of their match week 31.
Musa Hamzata’s opened the floodgates with just 14 minutes of time played before Lucky Nwafor grabbed a brace in the 30th and on the stroke of half time.
Faris Tahiru, 18, was on the score sheet twice, one between Nwafor’s brace in the 37th and the 61st minute to nail Aduana’s coffin.
Aduana Stars however crawled back late in the game to pull three consolations with Emmanuel Peprah on the 83rd and 87th minutes before his third in added time.
The big win pushes Accra Lions into 14th spot on 35 points from 31 league matches. They sit above Vision FC and Karela United who have 33 and 32 points respectively heading into week 31 fixtures on Sunday May 18.
